This page explains how to request deletion of your account and associated data for the MPAY mobile app. It applies to the application below as listed on Google Play and the App Store.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (instant)
If you can sign in, you can delete your own account directly from the app at any time:
- Open the MPAY app and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Confirm. Your account is permanently disabled immediately — you are signed out and cannot log in or reactivate it.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can’t access the app (for example you’ve uninstalled it or can’t sign in), email us and we’ll delete your account for you:
Send the request from your own email and include your registered phone number so we can verify it’s your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity before deleting. Never share your PIN or password. We process verified requests within 30 days and email you once it’s done.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, we delete or anonymise the personal data we are not legally required to keep, including:
- Your profile and identity details (name, date of birth, nationality, address).
- Contact details (phone number and email) and sign-in credentials/session tokens.
- Identity-verification (KYC) documents you uploaded and your face/biometric images.
- Profile photo, push-notification (device) tokens, and support attachments.
What is retained, and for how long
MPAY is a regulated financial service. Lao anti-money-laundering (AML/KYC) and financial law require us to keep certain identity and transaction records for a mandated period after closure. We keep only those records, only for the period the law requires, and then permanently delete them. We do not use retained records for any other purpose. See the Data retention and account deletion sections of our Privacy Policy for details.
| Data | Kept after deletion? | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Profile, contact, KYC documents, face data, device tokens | No — deleted or anonymised | Within 30 days of the request |
| Transaction & identity records required by financial law | Yes — only as legally required | The mandated retention period, then permanently deleted |
